Listener Mailbag: How to Fix a Sagging Concrete Step

Posted April 15th, 2011 by admin

Question:

There is an old poured concrete step in front of our porch which seems to have settled a long time ago. It has been a little bit cock-eyed for the fifteen years we’ve lived here. My question is this: will new concrete stick to old concrete? We really don’t want to break up that old step and start over. Could we just build a form around the old one and enlarge it? There’s room to go a little higher.

Question:

I have a wooden porch that I need to protect from the elements. The lumber is pressure treated, but it is starting to crack. Do you have a specific product that you would recommend to prevent further cracking and help protect the wood? Thanks!
