Listener Mailbag: Insulating an Attic Fan
Question:
We live in a thirty year old home with a whole house attic fan. Should we be insulating this from the attic side in the winter if so what should we use also my husband does not want to take out some of the heavy window unit air conditioners out of the window in the winter How do I help to keep our heat from going out through this besides the covers you can buy which basically just keep the weather off the unit as we always cover them?

Our chimney cover rusted and left rust stains down both sides of the new roof. How can rust be removed from a shingled house roof? Also, water is getting in somewhere around this chimney and coming through the ceiling of the room below. How can the source of the leak be found?
